Many of the Roman leaders that history would best remember lived during this time. Among them: Julius Caesar, Brutus, Mark Antony, Nero, Caligula, and Augustus.

Rev. - PONTIF MAX. TR. P. VII. COS. IIII. P. P. EX. S.C., Roma standing right in military garb, resting her foot on the decapitated head of an enemy who is wearing a tiara, Roma holds a shield which she inscribes SPQR (this detail is nearly always missing).
